Chinese Ambassador To Ghana H.E. Shi Ting Wang Meets With the President of the Republic Of Ghana H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

On August 24, 2018, the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Shi Ting Wang met with the Ghanaian President, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Presidential Palace (Jubilee House). The two sides exchanged views on China-Ghana relations, President Akufo-Addo's state visit to China as well as his attendance to the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation(FOCAC). Mdm. Frema Osei-Opare, Chief of Staff of the Presidency, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Amb. Hassan Ahmed, Director of the State Protocol, Mr. Yofi Grant, CEO of Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Mr. Jiang Zhouteng, Political Counselor and Mr. Chai Zhijing, Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Ghana were present at the meeting.

Ambassador Wang thanked H.E.President Akufo-Addo for meeting with him and conveyed to him the cordial greetings and best wishes of H.E. President Xi Jinping. Ambassador Wang said that the friendship between China and Ghana shares a long history. In recent years, the cooperation between the two countries has been fruitful and enjoys a sound momentum of development. China attaches great importance and looks forward to the state visit to China and attendance to the FOCAC Beijing Summit by H.E. the President. China is willing to work closely with Ghana to make the visit a great success. This visit will definitely inject new impetus into the development of China-Ghana relations and open a new chapter in China-Ghana cooperation.

President Akufo-Addo welcomed Ambassador Wang to his Presidential Palace and asked Ambassador Wang to convey his cordial greetings and best wishes to President Xi Jinping. President Akufo-Addo thanked China for the thoughtful arrangements made for his attendance to the FOCAC Beijing Summit and state visit to China. He expressed his willingness to cooperate closely with China to ensure the success of the summit and his visit and to push China-Ghana and China-Africa relations to a higher level. President Akufo-Addo stressed that the China-Ghana friendship originated from the leaders of the older generation of the two countries and is a valuable asset that should be inherited and developed. The Ghanaian government will continue to firmly adhere to the friendly policy toward China, further deepen political mutual trust between the two countries and make Ghana-China cooperation a model of the Africa-China cooperation.
