On May 29, 2018, the newly-appointed Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Mr. Shi Ting Wang and his wife Mrs. Zhao Man, arrived in Accra for assumption in office as the new Ambassador. The Ghanaian Ambassador to China H.E. Mr. Edward Boateng, Deputy Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Mr. Peprah Ampratwum, President of the Ghana-China Friendship Association (GHACHIFA) Ambassador Kojo Amoo-Gotfriet, as well as representatives from the Chinese community in Ghana greeted H.E. Mr. Wang and his wife at the airport.
Upon their arrival at the airport, Ambassador Wang stated that he was very delighted to come to the beautiful country Ghana and serve as the new Chinese Ambassador to Ghana. Ghana is an important country in Africa and a big power in West Africa. Ghana and China enjoy sound relations and profound friendship. Bilateral exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in the areas of politics, economy, culture and military have been continuously deepened in the recent years, showing a good momentum of development. “I will Remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind, take the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the guidance, strive to pursue Major-Country Diplomacy with Distinctive Chinese Features based on the new situation and new features of China-Africa and China-Ghana relations, and promote China-Africa, China-Ghana relations to a notch higher”, he said.
Ambassador Wang noted that, in September, the Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) will be held in Beijing. The President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo will also attend the Summit. The Chinese Embassy will work together with the Ghanaian side to make preparation for President Akufo-Addo’s visit and take this opportunity to write a new chapter in China-Africa and China-Ghana cooperation.
Ambassador Wang added that, as the new Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, he is full of confidence and expectations in the China-Ghana relations. He hoped that the both sides, with joint efforts, could create a new era of China-Ghana relations and cooperation, and make greater contributions to building a community of shared future for China and Africa, as well as for the Mankind.
