Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Madam Sun Baohong attended the Ghana National Aviation Award 2017

On September 1, 2017, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Madam Sun Baohong, was invited to attend the Ghana National Aviation Award 2017 and presented awards to the award-winning enterprises. Deputy Minister for Aviation Hon. Kwabena Darko-Mensah attended the ceremony. In her speech, Ambassador Sun introduced the achievements of the development and going-out strategy of China’s Aviation Industry, and the operating conditions of African World Airlines (AWA), a China-Ghana joint venture. Ambassador Sun said that China’s Civil Aviation Industry has developed rapidly in recent years and made remarkable achievements in the scale of transportation, safety level, route network and airport infrastructure as well as the first trial flight of the domestic large aircraft C919.

Ambassador Sun said that China’s Aviation Industry speeds up the going-out pace according to the national strategy, and actively promotes the cooperation in the regional aviation sector in Africa so as to promote the connectivity of the African continent. In 2017, the African World Airlines has expanded its capacity by increasing the number of aircrafts to 6, and is expected to introduce in the E190 fleet. Africa World Airlines has opened a flight route from Accra to Abuja and has increased daily flights from Ghana to Nigeria to six, making an important contribution to the prosperity of the aviation market in sub-region area.

Ghana’s African World Airlines (AWA) won two awards which are the “Promising Airline of the Year 2017” and the “Domestic Airline of The Year 2017”.
