Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Mdm. Sun Baohong visited the Ashanti Region (Ⅵ)

On 17 February, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Sun Baohong and the Bantamahene Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI, representative of the Asantehene attended the inauguration of the China-aided China-Ghana Friendship ICT Center in Lady Julia Community Knowledge Center. Around 600 people including local government officials, traditional leaders, teachers, students as well as residents from surrounding communities witnessed the ceremony.

In her address, Ambassador Sun reviewed the fruitful achievements of China-Ghana cooperation on politics, economy, cultural and people-to-people exchanges in recent years, gave an introduction of the cooperation between China and Kumasi. Ambassador Sun said that China’s development has provided opportunities to the rest of the world. China is ready to share the benefits of its development with other counties to build a community of common destiny for all mankind and realize common prosperity. Ambassador Sun also encouraged the school to make full use of the facilities provided by China to cultivate talents to make due contribution to the development of Ghana.

The Bantamahene, spoke on the Asantehene’s behalf, extended his gratitude to the long-term and selfless support from the Chinese government and people to the development of Ghana. The Bantamahene said that China-Ghana Friendship ICT Center is another proof of China-Ghana friendship. It is through education that China can gain today’s achievements. The Ghanaian students should make full use of the gift presented by the Chinese side, grasp internet and communication technology and meet the needs of the times.

Afterwards, Ambassador Sun and Bantamahene jointly cut the ribbon for the inauguration of the ICT center, donated stationary such as school bags, notebooks, pencils and erasers to the students and inspected the whole projects. During the ceremony, the teachers, students, local residents were drumming and dancing, creating an bustling atmosphere.
