2016/10/25
On 19 October 2016, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Mdm. Sun Baohong attended China-Ghana Infrastructure Investment Forum, which was held by China Africa Development Fund (CADFunD) in Accra, and delivered a speech. Deputy Minister of Power of the Republic of Ghana Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, CEO of Ghana Investment Promotion Center (GIPC) Mrs. Mawuena Trebarh, Acting CEO of Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund Mr. Steve Nartey, CEO of Africa 50 Mr. Alain Ebobissé, Vice President of CADFund Mr. Zhou Chao and Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy Mr. Chai Zhijing attended the forum.
In her address, Ambassador Sun briefed on the situation of China's economic development, foreign investment, investment in Africa and China-Ghana economic and trade cooperation. Ambassador Sun said that China and Ghana should take the opportunity of implementing the follow-up actions of the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, strengthen investment cooperation on infrastructure and industrial capacity to achieve win-win results and help Ghana realize sustainable development. Therefore, the two sides should strengthen exchanges of ideas and institution-building, establish the long-term perspective and the right concept of morality and benefits, focus on major projects that have far-reaching significance on Ghana's national development, and properly handle the problems in cooperation. The Chinese government and financial institutions will encourage credible Chinese enterprises to invest in Ghana and innovate cooperation mode.
Vice President Mr. Zhou said that CADFund always puts infrastructure as a key investment area in Africa, and the current main challenge in infrastructure cooperation in Africa is short of mature projects with suitable construction conditions and financing plans. Thus, CADFund innovated cooperation mode, set up China Overseas Infrastructure Development and Investment Corporation Limited (COIDIC) to get together China's large engineering companies and integrate their advantageous resources, and devote to the development and cultivation of infrastructure projects in Africa.
Deputy Minister Hon. Jinapor said that Ghana and China are longstanding partners. China has made great contributions to the infrastructure construction in Ghana. He hopes that the two countries can continue the cooperation in future.
Ambassador Sun also witnessed the signing of an MOU between COIDIC and GIPC, and presented the rewards of Excellence in social responsibility for Chinese enterprises invested by CADFund in Africa.
Ambassador Sun met with Zhou Chao, vice president of CADFund, and exchanged views on China-Africa and China-Ghana investment cooperation on 17th October 2016.
