Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Mdm. Sun Baohong met with Newly-appointed Governor of Bank of Ghana

On August 31st 2016, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Mdm. Sun Baohong met with Hon. Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku, newly-appointed Governor of the Bank of Ghana.

Mdm. Sun Baohong briefed Hon. Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku about the economic, trade and financial cooperation between the two countries, appreciated the Bank of Ghana for promoting the Renminbi business in Ghana and expressed willingness to implement the China-Africa financial cooperation plan within the FOCAC framework through joint efforts. Mdm. Sun Baohong also briefed Hon. Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku about the current “new normal” of Chinese economy, reforms in the financial sector as well as the preparation for G20 Summit in Hangzhou, China. She said the Chinese side is willing to strengthen communication on economic governance with Ghana and learn from each other so as to jointly address challenges and risks and realize mutual benefits. The Embassy of China looks forward to a closer relationship with the Bank of Ghana.

Hon. Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku viewed China as a credible partner, and highly valued the cooperation with China. Hon. Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku said he follows closely the development of Chinese economy and the financial sector as well as SOE reforms, and wishes to learn the good experiences of China. The Bank of Ghana will make full use of the training and exchange programs provided by the Chinese side, and is willing to share with the Chinese side the macroeconomic scenario and fiscal and monetary policies of Ghana.

The Economic and Commercial Counselor Mr. Li Jiang attended this meeting.
