On January 30, 2021, H.E. Lu Kun, the newly-appointed Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, arrived in Ghana for assumption in office. Emmanuel Antwi, the representative of Ghanaian Government, the Chief Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration and the diplomats from the Chinese Embassy greeted H.E. Mr. Antwi welcomed H.E. Lu Kun on his assumption of the new post in Ghana and highly commended China’s strong support for Ghana’s fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic. He said China is an important partner for Ghana. The bilateral cooperation between Ghana and China enjoys a sound momentum of growth and have yielded fruitful achievements. The Ghanaian Government will work with the Chinese side for greater development of Ghana-China relations and is ready to provide convenience and support for Ambassador Lu to fulfill his duties.

Ambassador Lu said that he is very glad to be the newly-appointed Chinese Ambassador to Ghana. The friendship of the Ghanaian people is as warm as the weather in Africa. Shouldered with the great trust of the Chinese government and people, I am deeply honored to assume this glorious mission to the friendly country of Ghana. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 60 years ago, recent years in particular, under the joint leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Nana Akufo-Addo, China-Ghana relations have entered a new era of rapid development. Facing the challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic, China and Ghana have shared weal and woe and helped each other, demonstrating the profound brotherhood between the two countries. I look forward to working closely with Ghanaian friends form all walks of life to implement the consensus of leaders of our two countries, deepen pragmatic and friendly cooperation vigorously and push China-Ghana relations to a new level.
