H.E. Ambassador Shi Ting Wang Attends the Ground Breaking Ceremony of AXIM Fishing Port

On July 24, H.E. Ambassador Shi Ting Wang attended the ground breaking ceremony of AXIM fishing port in the Western Region with H.E. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffu-Addo. Minister of Transport, Hon. Kwaku Asiamah, Minister of Fisheries, Hon. Afoley Quaye, and Western Regional Minister Hon. Kwabina Darko-Mensah, Minister of State Hon. Catherine Afeku of Ghana and the Economic and Trade Counselor of the Embassy, Chai Zhijing attended the event. The fishing port will be constructed by China Harbour with loan from China Development Bank. It is the first of the ten fishing port projects along the coastline.

Ambassador Wang said in his speech that the construction of the fishing port project represents another major achievement of Sino-Ghana cooperation. He has full confidence that China Harbour has the ability to complete the projects on time and with high quality. He pointed out that Ghana is an important partner of China in Africa and one of the largest sources of foreign investment in Ghana. The bilateral trade volume has reached a historic high last year. President Nana Akuf-Addo visited China last year and attended the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Beijing Summit and pushed bilateral relations and pragmatic cooperation to a new high. Ambassador Wang said that President Xi Jinping and President Nana Akuf-Addo have established a profound friendship. China is a good friend, good partner and good brother of Africa. China is willing to work with the Ghanaian government to contribute Chinese strength and Chinese wisdom to realizing the aim of Ghana beyond aid.

President Nana Akuf-Addo said in his speech that the implementation of the project benefits from the friendly relationship between China and Ghana and will promote the industrialization of fisheries in Ghana, enhance fishery production and deep processing capacity, and greatly improve the living standards of people in coastal areas. President Nana Akuf-Addo said that China is a reliable partner for the development of Ghana. The implementation of this project is another result of China-Ghana cooperation. The Ghanaian government will further strengthen bilateral relations with China and promote bilateral cooperation to make new progress.
