Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Shi Ting Wang Meets with General Secretary of the Ruling Party of Ghana
2019/07/13

On May 21, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Shi Ting Wang met with Hon. John Boadu, General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party. The two sides exchanged views on the international issues of common interests including the relations between the two parties and countries and China-US trade frictions. Mrs. Rita Talata Asobayire, the First Vice-Chairperson of NPP, Mr. Frederick Fredua Antoh, the Second Vice-Chairperson of NPP and Mr. Attafuah-Danso, Director of the International Department of NPP were present at the meeting.

Ambassador Wang welcomed General Boadu to the embassy and introduced the latest progress of friendly cooperation between the two countries since the visit of President Akufo-Addo to China in September 2018. Ambassador Wang said that the China-Africa and China-Ghana relations enjoy good momentum, but the world is far from peace and stable. The United States, under the banner of “US priority”, constantly waves the brick of tariffs and wantonly provoked a trade war with China. Recently, the United States used administrative power to announce that it will ban US companies from cooperating with Chinese companies such as Huawei in an attempt to achieve “winner-take-all”. Facing the economic and trade frictions provoked by the United States, China does not want to fight a trade war, but it is not afraid to fight, and have to fight one when necessary. He assured the Ghanaian friends that the Chinese economy “is a sea, not a small pond”. China will continue to grow and develop despite of trade frictions. China-Ghana cooperation will display new vitality.

General Secretary Boadu thanked Ambassador Wang for his introduction and recalled his visit to China early this year with the New Patriotic Party delegation. He spoke highly of China’s development achievements and the governing experience of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Mr. Boadu said that he had a deeper understanding of China’s development advantages through this visit. China’s development achievements were obtained through the hard work of the Chinese people and are completely beyond reproach. Some country who is reluctant to see China’s development, exerted pressure on China by increasing tariffs and administrative decrees, which is completely unreasonable and peremptory. The New Patriotic Party has confidence in China and Ghana-China friendly cooperation. It is willing to further strengthen exchanges with the Chinese Communist Party and build a closer relationship between the two parties and the two countries.
