Ghana Trade Mission to China a success
2005/09/12

The Agbogbomefia of the Ho Asogoli State, Togbe Afede XIV and his trade mission arrived at the Kotoka International Airport on September 8th, 2005 after a two-week trip to China, which took him to Beijing, Shanghai, Yiwu and Shenzhen.

He noted that the trip, which was meant to attract investments to Ghana, was also to afford some Ghanaian businesses the opportunity to learn at first hand how China had made strides in various fields.

"We see China as a country that is capable of sharing its experience with a country like Ghana and we have the hope that the experience will open the minds of our people to also develop," Togbe Afede stressed.

He described the trip as excellent and said a lot of memoranda of understanding were signed between the Ghanaian delegation and their Chinese counterparts, including those with Skyworth, a cellular phone and television set manufacturing company and other business interests in fuel dispensing pumps, estate development, hair products, agriculture, mining and tourism.

Togbe Afede noted that a renowned Chinese eye specialist, who was impressed by the determination of the group, expressed his readiness to build an eye clinic in Ghana.

He was very grateful to the Chinese government for the excellent reception and commended the Chinese Embassy in Ghana for its support.
