At the invitation of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Mr. Wigbert Y. Dogoli, President of the National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana led a five-member delegation to China from July 9th to 19th, 2005.

While in China, the delegation visited Beijing and three cities in Shandong Province, namely Jinan, Linyi and Weifang. Describing China as an all-weather friend of Ghana and listing such China aided projects as the National Theatre, Orfankor-Nsawam Road and so on, the delegation expressed deep gratitude to the Chinese Government for its generous assistance to Ghana. Greatly impressed with what they saw, the NALAG delegates were full of admiration for the achievements China has made.

An important objective of the visit was to promote the sister city program between the two countries. The initiative was responded positively. The Municipal Government of Linyi expressed interest in establishing sister city relationship with a Ghanaian city and intended to send a delegation to Ghana for the purpose.
