Hon. Wang Zhongyu heads CPPCC Delegation to Ghana

At the invitation of Rt. Hon. Ebenezer Sekyi Hughes, Speaker of the Parliament, Hon. Wang Zhongyu, Executive Vice Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and his delegation paid a visit to Ghana from May 31st to June 2, 2005. On the very day of its arrival, H. E. John Agyekum Kufuor, President of the Republic of Ghana received the delegation. The President lauded the friendly relations between the two countries and thanked the Chinese Government for the assistance it had extended to Ghana over the years. Hon. Wang Zhongyu said that the two countries shared a lot in common and expressed the hope that the exchanges between the CPPCC and the Ghanaian Parliament will help bring the two countries closer.


H. E. Kufuor and Hon. Wang Zhongyu also witnessed a ceremony at which the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Zhang Keyuan, and Hon. Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning signed an agreement for a grant to Ghana for economic and technical cooperation projects.

During the visit, the delegation met with Rt. Hon. Hughes and the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Parliament and visited the Kwame Nkrumah Mausolium, the Coco Processing Company, the Pioneer Food Cannery and the China aided Ofankor-Nsawam road project.
